In August 2023, I had the chance to participate in a CAS project, teaching ICT to underprivileged kids from Surat’s outskirts. At first, I thought it would be easy—just basic computer skills—but quickly realized how little access they had to technology. We had to slow down and simplify everything, from turning on the computer to using Google apps. By the end, seeing their excitement as they learned was incredible. It was a humbling experience that made me appreciate how impactful even small efforts can be in bridging the digital gap.
LO6 Digital literacy is a critical global issue, and by teaching basic ICT skills to these students, I played a small part in closing the digital divide. This divide limits access to education and economic opportunities, which is why SDG 4, Quality Education, is so vital. Through this experience, I truly understood the importance of striving toward this goal. We not only shared our knowledge with underprivileged children but also saw firsthand how these small steps can create a ripple effect in their lives. It deepened my commitment to promoting inclusive and equitable education for all.Communicator: You simplified complex concepts and effectively conveyed basic ICT skills to students, ensuring that they understood and could apply what they learned, bridging the gap between them and the digital world.
