We the grade 12 students organized the Staff Garba Fest, a student-led event that took place after school. On the day of their function, we were asked to manage everything including food, decor and music . Together with a group of people I managed to make this event a success and make the teachers have a blast.

Learning outcome 1: Identifying Strengths and Areas for Growth
Leading the Staff Garba Fest made me aware of a number of strengths I wasn’t previously aware of. I discovered that I was adept at coming up with themes and carrying them out with imaginative décor. But I also recognized areas where I could improve, especially in time management and juggling my project’s obligations with my academic obligations. These realizations inspired me to improve my delegation and time management abilities so that subsequent projects go even more smoothly.

Learning outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
Before this event I have never managed or been a head of anything that was initiated by the school.I was usually a part of dance, social media or something more interesting. I was thrilled to learn about managing a team for an event and to plan everything. Experiencing all the aspects like planing the pre event organisation which includes decor, food, music and post event clean up aided in shaping my knowledge which will help me in future.

Learning outcome 3: Initiate and plan a CAS experience
Since CAS had just been introduced and Garba Fest was one of the first grade 11 events, the enthusiasm really increased our enthusiasm and our desire to participate and plan everything . Additionally it was my project so I took part in order to complete my CAS programme with good experience and within time limit.

Learning outcome 4: Showing Perseverance and Commitment
Being the primary organizer required constant work and strong commitment on my part. At times, especially when last-minute adjustments occurred, juggling the event and academics felt impossible. But what kept me going was my dedication to making the staff and participants’ experience unforgettable. Notwithstanding the difficulties, I made sure that every aspect—from the colourful decorations to the neatly arranged stalls—was carried out as best I could.

Learning outcome 5: Demonstrating Skills and Benefits of Working Collaboratively
The Staff Garba Fest’s success served as evidence of the value of teamwork. Although I was in charge of the project, the team’s combined efforts made it a reality. Everyone was essential, from classmates assisting with setup and cleanup to volunteers operating the stations. Collaborating with others created a feeling of belonging and taught me the value of respecting different viewpoints, asking for feedback, and believing in the abilities of others.

Learning outcome 6: Engagement with Issues of Global Significance
As a traditional dancing style, garba symbolizes Gujarat, India’s rich cultural legacy. We promoted ethnic awareness and unity while celebrating this lively tradition by planning the Staff Garba Fest. The occasion provided a chance to educate attendees on the value of maintaining ethnic customs and valuing diversity. The kiosks also promoted local entrepreneurship, encouraging people to be resourceful and sustainable.

Learning outcome 7: Recognising and Considering the Ethics of Choices and Actions
As the leader, I was conscious of the moral considerations involved in planning the event. This involved establishing reasonable prices at the stalls, making sure everyone felt welcome, and managing resources sensibly to reduce waste in order to ensure inclusivity. Additionally, I stressed the value of volunteers respecting one another and working as a team, which helped to create a happy and encouraging environment during the event.
