This CAS experience is the preparation and conduction of a Cricket Tournament for support staff at the school. Our objective was to begin support staff’s connection and to fill friendly competition in it. We, in handling such a large crowd, collaborated to pslan the event. We had control over the event’s overall planning process since we were in a position as the organizer of the tournament.
We then met with the school administration to introduce our idea. In this, we discussed some possible problems that might be encountered and most importantly got permission from the school authorities to utilize their basketball court as a proposed site for the activity.
Tournament format and planning of the fixtures: we agreed on the duration of time it would take for us to host the tournament. The game’s rules were all well confirmed; the formats for the fixtures’ forms were also confirmed with distributions of teams, among other distributions. The structure of the tournament together with the set of regulations concerning matters such as size, time taken, and right age groups agreed upon.
LO3: Planning and Implementation of a CAS Experience
This effort requires leadership and responsibility from the outset. Recognizing the need for a community building activity that has a competitive aspect to it, we researched similar activities and created a plan which suited our school’s context and resources. This experience helped us build on our planning and organisational skills as well as our ability to initiate and lead change.
L4. Demonstrate perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
There were several ups and downs. Firstly, managing the support staff itself required perseverance. Explaining the rules and regulations was a tough job since everyone was a tough job. We had to remain committed throughout.
L5- Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
The success of this event was greatly dependent on teamwork. We worked together to:
Create a coherent plan: We communicated ideas effectively, divided duties according to strengths, and ensured that all components of the event (activities, tournament) were properly organized. We were also accompanied by the event team.
Delegate and distribute work across individual abilities and interests: we checked with each other to ensure that work is progressing. The 3 of us were given the main umpire, leg umpire, and scorer responsibilities.
Work together to seek a solution of problems: When we faced problems we brain-storm the solutions together, and then went on to take a best action taking place in a situation.
In this activity improved our ability in order to properly function as a group, appreciative of the range of contributions, working towards a collective goal.
