Organizing and participating in the Pi Day Celebration was an enriching experience that allowed me to blend creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. My main contribution was the design and facilitation of the “Stole of Math†game puzzle, a fun and engaging way to represent the mathematical significance of Pi.
LO-2: Demonstrate That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills
Creating a math-based game that was both educational and enjoyable was challenging. It required me to think innovatively about how to integrate Pi into puzzles that would engage participants of different age groups. I developed skills in game design and learned how to simplify complex mathematical concepts to make them accessible and fun. This process also improved my ability to think critically and creatively under pressure.
LO-3: Demonstrate How to Initiate and Plan a CAS Experience
Planning the Pi Day celebration involved multiple stages, from brainstorming ideas to coordinating resources and logistics. I played a key role in organizing the timeline, setting up the game stations, and ensuring that the puzzles were ready on time. This experience enhanced my organizational and leadership skills, teaching me the importance of thorough preparation and adaptability in overcoming unexpected challenges during the event.
LO-5: Demonstrate the Skills and Recognize the Benefits of Working Collaboratively
The success of the event was a result of effective teamwork. My peers and I worked together to share ideas, divide tasks, and support one another during the planning and execution phases. Collaborating with others allowed us to combine our strengths, resolve problems efficiently, and create a memorable experience for the participants. This reinforced the value of teamwork and taught me how to communicate and coordinate effectively within a group.
The Pi Day celebration was not only a celebration of mathematics but also an opportunity for me to grow as an individual and team member. It highlighted the importance of collaboration, adaptability, and creative problem-solving in making an idea come to life.
