Introduction
In my CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) project, I was privileged to organize a pickleball tournament with my fellow students. Not only was this project a chance to learn new things, but it was also a great learning experience in terms of teamwork, commitment, and ethical behavior in sport. Below is a reflection on our experience as we undertook this enriching experience.

Overcoming Challenges and Skill Development

It was no easy task to organize a tournament. Right from logistics such as reserving the gymnasium to fixing the matches, we encountered numerous challenges along the way. One of the major challenges was making sure that all the students knew the rules of pickleball. To address this, we organized a number of practice sessions where students learned and developed their skills.

In these sessions, the students enhanced their strategic play, teamwork, and communication skills. More importantly, they learned to play out competitive situations, which teaches them that sense of sportsmanship that is so vital in any competitive endeavor.

Initiating and Planning the CAS Experience

The first aspect of our CAS experience was the gauging of interest levels. We discussed in class and came to a very high interest in the sport of pickleball. Once we had a decent number of participants, we all set goals for the tournament, such as the number of teams we would have and a match schedule.

Planning involved creating a schedule of activities—when to practice, how to organize the tournament brackets, and creating a refereeing system. This team effort brought out everyone’s ideas and enabled us to tap into our combined strengths.

Commitment and Perseverance

As we moved closer to the tournament, dedication was a key factor. Students were urged to go to every practice session, even if they were exhausted or preoccupied with homework. This process reinforced the need to be present on a regular basis, despite distractions.

The tournament itself was a tough test of endurance. Players experienced losses and difficult games; however, they supported one another, knowing that resilience is as valuable as technical ability. These experiences of disillusionment were significant learning experiences, becoming lessons in personal development and resilience.

Collaboration and Its Benefits

The advantages of collaborative work were established during the tournament. Players learned about the weaknesses and strengths of each other and, consequently, a collaborative environment and trust were established. Players with established technical ability assisted others to develop new technical abilities, and players who excelled in communications facilitated strategy discussions.

Looking back on our group project, we realized that teamwork did not only make our playing better but also intensified our friendships by learning to make one another’s support a top priority on and off the field.

Ethics of Choices and Actions

Ethics became a prime topic of discussion throughout our conversation. We discussed the importance of sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for competitors. It was important to note that winning is not the only goal; how we conduct ourselves in competition says a great deal about who we are.

Students were faced with moral choices, like whether to call a foul or how to manage a tough loss. Through these discussions, the importance of integrity and respect rang true to all, highlighting the idea that true success is determined by what we do and how we act. Conclusion The pickleball tournament was competitive not only on the court; it was more broadly a CAS experience that let us grow personally and as a team. We learned new things, appreciated hard work and diligence, learned to see the benefit of collaboration, and reflected upon the ethical impact of our activities. As we continue our CAS experience, thank you all for the ride and I look forward to the next one. We played a sport together, as well as created a community and encouraged individual growth. Let us now turn to the future in anticipation of even greater challenges that we can create and flourish on.
