The students coming their from govt. Schools and from villages has different communication and types of language thry speak was very difficult to understand though we all understand each, the basketball teaching boldness at Fountainhead School represents the transformative power of community service, skill development, and collaboration. By reaching out to students in government and village schools and sharing their passion for basketball, students not only demonstrate their ability to undertake challenges and develop new skills but also create a positive impact on the lives of others. Learning Outcome 7: Identifying and Evaluating the Ethical Implications of Decisions and Practices
In the CAS experience at Fountainhead School, we looked forward to teaching basketball to the children in government as well as village schools with an eye on the ethical implications that stood behind what we were doing. Knowingly our privilege over access to resources, we approached the task sensitively so that respect commanded every child’s value and inclusion. And it wasn’t merely about the skills but bonding and imbibing into them the attribute of inclusiveness.
One ethical challenge that came our way was a common language challenge since the students were speaking different dialects, so we really had to learn how to adapt our communication and teaching styles. We had to be more patient and empathetic and learn that mentorship is about connecting and understanding, rather than just mere words.This helped in drawing our attention to our role in community service-teaching is one thing, but empowering those students to believe in themselves is the real point. It was a lesson in humility, compassion, and the ethics of how one makes a difference. Through such action, we grew as empathetic leaders, realizing that choices make a difference, inspire, and create meaningful change, grounded in ethical considerations.
