Creative mela was an experience in which I was invited to teach students stone art and share my passion for painting. The purpose of this experience was to spend time with kids and to teach them to showcase their creativity through a medium they may not have considered. I also wanted to showcase my leadership skills by leading the workshop and organizing it.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth AND LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Through this experience, I was able to identify my strengths and work on my areas for development. Interacting with the kids and bringing smiles to their faces made me realize that I was good at working with kids and was able to lead them fluidly. I was abe to identify working with kids as one of my biggest strengths.

With that, another strength that I was able to identify was able to identify was painting and arts. While providing examples to students, I was able to create some rock art and I was then able to identify that painting was one of my strong qualities. I showcased my art and painting skills while improving on the same.

On the other hand, one of my weaknesses is to collaborate with another volunteer to lead together. I was able to work and improve greatly upon this because I had to work with two other people to lead the activity. Because the other volunteers were great and helped me pull the stall together, I was able to overcome one of my weaknesses which was leading with others. Because of this experience, I was able to showcase and develope communication and collaborative skills throughout the experience.

The skills that I developed/showcased through this experience – 

• Thinkers – I will have to think of different, creative art pieces to paint on the rocks and will have to think of designs that will engage the students and will make the experience fun for them. 
•  Communicators – This experience required me to communicate with other volunteers to pull the stall together and this experience also helped me to connect with students, talk with them, and guide them through their artwork.
