Sports tournament- activity

I believe that it is important to have at least one sports activity to not only have physical fitness but to also push yourself beyond their comfort zone. That is why I decided to start a sport, Skating which I really love.

Skating or any sport for that matter have their own challenges. I had been already skating, but to level my game up, I decided to participate in several skating tournaments this time. For this, I started even more intense training and participated in SGFI districts where I secured a 1st position and Khelmahakumbh districts where I secured a second position in Under 17 quad roller female category.

LO 2

Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

I faced a lot of challenges, the most difficult was time management. Playing a sport, especially participating in a tournament requires a lot of time so it is very difficult to manage time along with IB DP. For this, I had no other option, but to push myself beyond my comfort zone and increase my work hours. Though it was initially difficult, I was able to adapt to it. Also training was really physically exhausting and a lot of injuries that I had to face. This improves my muscular strength and fitness.

LO 3

Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

For this tournament, I also had to plan my training session, including refining my techniques, building strength, endurance and speed. For this, I took help of my coach to achieve all of this efficiently.

LO 4

Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Skating and preparing for tournaments was a battle. It requires me to give a lot of time which is very difficult with my academics and also the training was physically difficult, but I persevered throughout in the hope of winning the tournament.

Learner profile

Risk-taker- Rink practice and road skating had a big concern that it would give a lot of injuries, thus being risky as well. But I was ready to take that risk. Also I showcased courageousness to compete with other skaters.

Balanced- as I had to balance my time with academic and studies with the training for the tournaments

Reflective- as I had to reflect each day on my performance and plan my train accordingly to improve my performance in skating.
