The school farewell is an unforgettable event for me as the host and to give back to the seniors. As the host, organizing such an event requires meticulous planning of the script and preparation of the same as well as speaking in front of 200 people requires immense confidence. For friends bidding farewell, the event holds sentimental value, marking the end of an era and the beginning of new journeys. It provides an opportunity to express gratitude, share memories, and strengthen bonds. In the process, friends develop interpersonal skills such as empathy, public speaking, and emotional intelligence as they navigate the bittersweet emotions of parting ways. Overall, the school farewell serves as a platform for personal growth and skill development, fostering lasting memories and cherished friendships that endure beyond the confines of school walls.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills: 

Being a host for the event I had to brainstorm multiple ideas for speech, practice rigorously, and show my passion to express gratitude to our seniors in a way that would touch their hearts. I overcame my stage fright by giving my all and giving a core memory they would cherish their entire life. Conflicts were inevitable but I managed to keep our cool and work through the challenges together. Through this experience, I developed new skills in time management, confidence, and perseverance.

LO4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in activities: 

Preparing for the G12 farewell opening speech required a high level of commitment and perseverance. I spent countless hours writing the speech, getting it reviewed, practicing the speech and finalizing the decor. Time and time again, I had to rewrite a few of the speech, replace things, practice voice modulation and delivery and apart from that I additionally helped in decor to make it as appealing and pleasing as possible. This required a high level of commitment as you had to be ready to start again from scratch till mere perfection was achieved.

LO 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

The G12 farewell opening speech was not just done by me but it was a team effort, and I had to work collaboratively with my friends and teachers to make it a success. Working together in a group, you come to realize, each individual has their own different perspectives. While having a discussion in regards to the way we wanted to plan the farewell and specifically my speech, each of our team members had different ideas to pitch and different scopes that were to be explored. Each one of us did unbiased scrutiny of the other’s work, and after taking into consideration all the pros and cons listed down all the shortcomings and strengths, this way we were able to minimize the cons by building up on each other’s ideas, achieved perfection which otherwise wasn’t possible. We demonstrated the learner profiles as Open-Minded, Communicators, Thinkers as well as knowledgeable during the same.
