Anand Utsav
Anand Utsav is an event arranged by Fountainhead School every year. This is a student led event done as a token of thanks to the support staff who help the students everyday in their school life. During the Anand Utsav, the school’s atmosphere buzzed with excitement and appreciation. Students and staff alike eagerly participated in the festivities, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie. As a volunteer, I found myself immersed in the energy of the event, helping to ensure everything ran smoothly.
LO1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Amidst the plethora of activities, I found ample opportunities for personal growth and development. Managing various tasks throughout the day, from organizing game stations to assisting staff members, allowed me to tap into my strengths while also identifying areas where I could improve. With each interaction, I refined my communication skills and honed my ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
LO2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Not only understanding my strengths but my role as a host was difficult but I understood that my public speaking skills are my strength whereas it was very challenging for me to write a script in Gujarati which is a tough task. Not only writing the script but I developed speaking fluently for a longer time in Gujarati while making it fun.
LO5 : Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
Collaboration emerged as a fundamental of the event’s success. Working alongside my peers, we seamlessly coordinated our efforts to provide the support staff with a memorable experience. Whether brainstorming ideas for new games or troubleshooting logistical challenges, our collective efforts underscored the value of teamwork and mutual respect. Not only that but me and my hosting partner even collaborated on the script for the event which was in Gujarati.
LO6: Engagement with issues of global significance.
The issue of inadequate facilities and underdevelopment among support staff from low-income families is a growing concern on a global scale. In an effort to address this issue, the Anand Utsav event provided support staff with opportunities to have fun through engaging activities. The volunteers from G11 and 12 played a pivotal role in facilitating this development, as they worked tirelessly to create an environment that was welcoming, inclusive, and educational. Moreover, through these activities, the support staff had fun and gained memories for lifetime
LO7 : Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions
At its core, the Anand Utsav was a testament to the ethical principles that guide our actions. By recognising the contributions of the support staff, we reaffirmed our commitment to fostering a culture of appreciation and inclusivity within the school community. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the staff members as they engaged in the festivities served as a reminder of the impact of our choices and actions. We respected them and their perspectives with equal respect and carefully listened to their ideas.
