Among the CAS project activities, the school took charge of a cross-country event, whereby the runners needed to run throughout the round to attain their CAS credentials. There were three events in this service: The first one, which covered almost 3km, took me about 20 minutes to finish. Next was a 1.5km jog where pink powder was placed on us for the challenge to keep going. It was fun as we covered our body with the pink powder including back of our shirts that would come off by the time we reached the finish line. The same pattern of the next 2 events was the way that they felt as well with a length of a 5km each.
For the first event, I was still able to cope quite well, contrary to the fact that I was prepared to have a miserable experience in the first place. At the beginning it was quite light but after half way into the race, my leg started to ache but I pushed my self until I ended till I felt relieved. The next race was literally harder; my legs were in some terrible pain, and indeed I could not keep going. While I did push myself to see past the pain, I did eventually complete the race.
LO1: Find out your strengths and all the things where you should make progress.
Nevertheless the understanding of this imperative is an important part the solution which I need to focus to attain my maximum potential in the future. Knowing one’s strengths is as important as working on personal growth as it help us to understand our limitations.
LO2: Try countless new things and work on your abilities.
The whole time I was trying to keep my velocity around the target one is the test of endurance and confidence. I am now able to tackle this difficulty directly, meaning that I add many new skills to my repertoire, including pacing and finishing successfully after exhaustion. This pushes me to take on the tough acts in life so as to get the outgoing half and new skills in me.
LO4: Demonstrate commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences
The cross-country event required a high level of commitment and perseverance to complete the distances, particularly as I faced difficulties in maintaining pace. This experience has reinforced the value of dedication and persistence in achieving goals, even when faced with challenges. It has motivated me to work harder and improve my endurance for future CAS activities.
