Badminton has always been my favorite sport, which motivated me to choose it as my PS activity in grade 11. Playing for around 3 hours each cycle allowed me to enhance my skills and gain valuable insights into both my strengths and weaknesses.
LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
When I first started playing badminton, my only experience came from casual games with friends, where we didn’t follow official rules or play on a proper court. As I progressed with each class, I began to identify my strengths and areas that needed improvement. For instance, I was proficient at forehand serves, but since I was learning the backhand serve for the first time, there was significant room for improvement.
LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
I needed considerable improvement in my backhand serves, executing powerful smashes, and defending against smashes. Since I had only played for one year, I wasn’t able to fully master these skills, but I did make noticeable progress. This improvement enhanced my overall gameplay and deepened my enjoyment of badminton.
LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Improvement in any sport takes time, and the same was true for me with badminton. Even on days when I wasn’t keen on attending classes, I remained committed and persevered, which helped me stay focused and motivated to continue progressing in the sport.
