I’ve been performing community service since I’ve been in this school, and it’s the most enjoyable part of school life. I enjoy giving assistance and teaching children on topics that I know a lot about. This year, along with three other people, I taught frisbee. I demonstrated a lot of traits and i learnt a lot.

LO2 ( DEMONSTRATE THAT CHALLENGES HAVE BEEN UNDERTAKEN, DEVELOPING NEW SKILLS IN THE PROCESS )

I have never been the one who demonstrates the trait of a leadership and therefore getting the opportunity to have a role of being an incharge was challenging for me. Although I knew that I needed to get over this challenge and thereby I took the opportunity and started to take part in the whole process and overcome this fear. I wasn’t the only incharge, there were 3 other people and collaborating with them was also a task since sometimes there would be clashes of opinions. So being patient and collaborating was a skill which I developed while overcoming the challenge. 

LO3 (DEMONSTRATE HOW TO INITIATE AND PLAN A CAS EXPERIENCE) 

As being one of the incharges, helping plan the activities for the kids to do was a task. There were a lot of kids and volunteers, and having a plan which all of them would enjoy could be a little tricky, although with the help of teachers and other incharges, we came up with the 3 weekends plan and all the activities would be very well enjoyed by the kids and the volunteers. 

The first week’s plan was to make sure the kids know how to hold the frisbee properly and make sure they practice different types of throws and to make sure the kids know how to throw it properly, we used to make them practice throwing for 15 mins at the start of every session. At the end of each session, we used to make them play, just to make sure they had fun. In between, we used to make them do drills such as in-cut,out cut drills. 

LO4 ( DEMONSTRATE THE SKILLS AND RECOGNIZE THE BENEFITS OF WORKING COLLABORATIVELY )

As mentioned above, there were 3 other in-charges besides me. We all together planned the whole plan for the community service and all of us were there to help each other. Thereby learning to collaborate and work as a team helps a lot. There would be a lot of things you could learn and share, and that’s how I demonstrated the LO4. The weakness i had while doing this community service was that i don’t speak gujarati and the kids were able to understand gujarati only so that was something which other incharges helped me, and while i am good with kids, i helped the kids to understand the task properly.
