FS MUN 10.0- CAS Project

FS MUN, is a student-led event, where it is a model of the conferences of the committees in the United Nations. Delegates from school and outside school participated in this 2 day event. I was appointed as the deputy secretary general for the 10th edition of FS MUN, where I went through a selection process and got an opportunity to lead the event. As a deputy secretary general I had several responsibilities and tasks, where I had to manage the organizing committee team working for the event, invite executive board members and overall manage the event along with the team. The event consisted of 300+ delegates from different schools, with 10 different committees like, UNSC, Lok sabha, IPL auction house, etc with a organizing committee team of 40+ people. The conference was held on 23-24 December 2023, and the preparations for the same started 6 months prior, where we prepared the agenda’s committees, made the study guides, promoted the event and looked after the arrangements and decor for the event. This CAS project helped me in building my management and collaboration skills along with the other intrapersonal skills.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.

I led and initiated this CAS project by playing the role of the deputy secretary general, where we planned the whole event, where we designed different committees, agenda’s and the whole event flow and initiated to implement it. This helped me in initiating and planning this CAS project from the scratch, where from the initial stage of starting the planning of the event.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.

With a lot of hiccups and hurdles on the 6 months journey, by balancing the academics and extra-curricular activities with the CAS project, I showed perseverance and commitment towards this CAS project, where from the initial day where I got the appointment mail to the final MUN day, I stayed committed and dedicated towards the project, which helped me in building perseverance and dedication towards a project.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

For this CAS experience, we worked together as a team, where we distributed the work amongst a small group of teams like accounts team, decor team etc, which benefited us in easing our work and burden and reduced conflicts amongst the team which increased our efficiency. This CAS project helped me in building my collaboration skills, where I sharpen my skill of working collaboratively with other team members which also build my attribute of open mindedness.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.

MUN’s is an event, where in the US committees there is a debate and discussion going on about global issues, where there is a discussion on the global issues and how can the countries solve them. This helped me in engaging with global issues and discussing the same to bring a solution together for a better and peaceful world.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

I had to make ethical choices and actions, where with a higher post I had higher responsibilities on my shoulders. I had to be fair and unbiased at all times, where I recognised and made ethical choices where I refrained from my friends who signed up late for their request of their presence in the event as it was against my choice of ethics. I also had to do the selection process for the organizing committee team ethically, looking at the strengths people could bring on without looking from a biased perspective.

To conclude, this 6 months CAS project helped me in growing my management and intrapersonal skills, by gaining an experience of organizing this large event with 300+ delegates and more that 450+ people attending the event.
