Community service

Learning Outcome 3:

This involvement in a community service project within the school was one of the most impactful experiences I’ve had. Over the course of six sessions (from 5th to 20th august, on weekends), I had the privilege to teach underprivileged children how to navigate the online world, from basic shortcuts and googling to creative tools like drawing, Google Docs, and many more. This experience proved to be both overwhelming and highly satisfying, leaving a great impression on my personal growth.

I started this initiative with the intention of giving these kids the fundamental computing skills they needed. It was adorable and motivating to see how eager and determined they were to understand every concept. I served as an mentor during these sessions, creating a space where students felt at ease expressing their concerns and showing their interest.

Learning Outcome 5:

These lessons had an influence beyond only the kids’ skills in technology. I noticed that as I helped them with various tasks, my own communication abilities improved. It took persistence, sensitivity, and flexibility to simplify complicated ideas such as explaining the functions of special keys and how they can simplify their tasks through shortcuts. as a result of this experience I became a better communicator , and I know that this ability will help me in the years to come.

Learning Outcome 2:

My participation in this work also brought attention to the significance of flexibility. Each session’s specific challenges and learning preferences prompted me to modify my teaching approach. This adaptability improved my flexibility along with helping me become more effective in the classroom.

one of the major challenge I faced throughout these sessions was language, As the children were much more comfortable with gujarati language, and I was not familiar with it therefore, there was definitely a communication gap, but I overcame it through explaining the tasks in much more simple way and used the help of my friends who could easily cast my voice towards them in their favoured language.

Undoubtedly, this journey fell under the service component of CAS, I’m grateful for the chance I got to have a positive impact on these kids’ lives . The project made me think back about the value of education, and how important learning such ICT skills can be in those children’s lives, also how helpful it is for them. It strengthened my dedication to giving back and growing myself, making me a much more responsible person

In conclusion, my involvement in teaching underprivileged children computer skills has been a transformative journey. It has allowed me to give back to my community while also nurturing my own growth. I am truly grateful for this experience and look forward to future opportunities where I can continue making a positive impact through service such as this.
