Sports tournament: ISSO 6th edition

One of the sports that I like with all my heart is football. Ever since I was a child I loved football and this love for it has grown stronger every year I played football. I have made a huge progress in football from playing for fun with my society friends to become the main goal keeper of my school team which I am really proud of. Loudest of cheers from my teammates and the audiences watching us play football makes my really happy and motivates me to continuously play football. Recently a sports tournament was held in Jayshree Pariwal international school (JPIS) in Jaipur. Where I was representing our school being the heart/Goalkeeper of my football team. In this tournament many top IB schools have participated about a total of 50 teams had participated in the category of u-17 football tournament. We had give everything that we could have giving and managed to reach in the quarter-finals of this tournament after defeating symbiosis international school on a tight 2-1 victory in the round of 16. In the quarter-finals in the beginning 5-7 min the opposition had got a penalty despite saving that penalty and giving our 200% in that match we had unfortunately lost that match 4-0 and our journey of that tournament had ended their everyone was sad. Nonetheless, even though we had lost that tournament I had enjoyed each and every moment that I have spent in that tournament and I enjoyed it a lot. After this tournament we had identified where we had lacked and what were our strengths and work hard as a team and will try to win our new big tournament.

LO1: Identify your own strengths and develop areas of growth:

Throughout this tournament, I was able to identify my own strengths and limitations as a player and for my team as well. This allows me to develop and focus on the areas such as communication, handling football with my feet, and becoming more open with my team’s backline. By improving these things I can improve my overall game because of which we were able to win all of the 3 group stage matches easily.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills:

Participating in this tournament was significantly difficult and we had faced many challenges by entering this tournament. We were up against some of the top teams throughout the country. There were about 48-52 teams that participated in this tournament which forced us to develop skills that will help to match the level of highly competitive teams. Some of the skills are the discipline of other players, their game sense, and technical ability etc. By such skills we were able to cope up with the challenges that were given by other players on the field. Thinker was one of the learning attributes that was Demonstrate, because being a goal keeper I had to think twice before taking any decision a bad decision can cost losing an important match.

LO4: Show commitment and perseverance in activity:

The tournament requires a great amount of commitment and perseverance from me and my team. This is because we had multiple training sessions before/after school where we need to be present, work on our fitness level, and should stay motivated despite losing a game. This will help us to bounce back in the future.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefit of working collaboratively:

We all know that football is a team sport, and we know the work collaboratively in order to achieve the desired goal. By communicating, trusting our own teammates, and by working together will lead us to winning the game. This will help us to create a stronger bond, learning from each other and overall becoming a great football team which is feared by every other team. The learn profile that I had Demonstrate is open-minded as I have listened to each and every strategy that my coach and friends suggested.
