For this year’s global Odyssey our team had decided to open a stall of ps5. Playing PS5 is one of the things that I like to do in my free time, so I eagerly helped my friends with all the planning and the execution of this stall for this event. This helped me cover the important CAS learning outcomes.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth:
One of the most important things that is needed to handle a stall is collaboration. Collaboration will help in completing task efficiency by viewing the teams strengths and responsibility. Our teamwork was up to the point and we never disappointed our customers who played PS5 at our stall. Another strength that I had identified is the trust and communication skills between my friends which is another important thing to handle a stall. Every time one of us was at the stall we trusted each other, that one of us will be at the stall and before leaving the stall we communicated with each other by which confusion were eliminated and our stall was running smoothly.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills:
To handle a stall was not an easy thing. Especially handling a stall for the first time. At first no one was coming to our stall by which we were demotivated. One of my teammates told me to promote our stall and bring some people but I was shy and not confident to ask people to come play at our stall. So one of my friends did this for the same. By this I learned that by communication we can deal with challenges and complete the task smoothly and attract people to play PS5 at our stall. Dealing with this challenge made me better at communicating, and now I feel ready for similar tasks in the future and feel more confident to talk with other people.
LO3: Initiate and Plan a CAS experience:
Me and my friends all worked together to come up with the idea of having a stall in Global Odyssey. We plan this experience from the scratch, deciding the price per game of FIFA in PS5, to assign different tasks to different people. By writing down what we wanted to do, splitting and assigning different roles etc. We had scheduled multiple team meetings to do so. Doing this taught me communication and time management is very important in handling a stall. It showed me that being organised and by communicating with others is key to have a successful experience.
LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience:
I knew that handling a stall was not an easy task I learned that by sticking with the challenges and by staying positive will help me grow. In the start no one was coming to our stall by I kept my calm and stayed positive that people will come and we will earn money. By working together to solve the problem helps my team run our stall smoothly. I felt very good after overcoming all the problems and achieve our goals. This experience showed me that give up is never a option, there is also a end to a problem it is just that we need to work together and find a solution to it.
LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively:
Collaborative is one of the most important things in running a stall. We all have divided works amongst ourselves. I was the one who helped people who visited our stall start the game of FIFA. Another was in charge of collecting money from the people. Lastly 2 of my friends were suppose to attract other people to come play at our stall. By this I learned what were some benefits of working as a team and collaboration is a key to success in running a smooth stall and making money by dividing works amongst ourselves.
Overall, participating in planning and running a PS5 stall provided me with many lessons that will help me in the future group projects or careers. I am grateful for this CAS experience to strengthen my organisational, interpersonal and reflective learning skills.
