A Fulfilling Internship at Aangan Architects

My longstanding fascination with architecture, where structures transcend mere bricks and mortar to become narratives waiting to unfold, propelled me to pursue an internship at Aangan Architects. This esteemed firm consistently produces captivating projects, and the opportunity to contribute filled me with immense enthusiasm.

While the internship spanned only two weeks, the experiences within condensed into what felt like a much longer, enriching period. Initial introductions allowed me to connect with the remarkable Aangan team and immerse myself in their design ethos. Architectural and design periodicals became my constant companions, with each page offering valuable insights into the intricacies of crafting beautiful and functional living spaces (fulfilling Learning Objective 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth by solidifying my interest in architecture).

The highlight of the internship was undoubtedly the site visits. Witnessing firsthand the transformation of conceptual plans into tangible living quarters on actual construction sites of houses and apartments was truly captivating. Next came the software challenge. Mastering the intricacies of AutoCAD and SketchUp Pro, the powerful tools architects utilize to breathe life into their visions, presented a stimulating learning curve. While my prior familiarity with the free versions of these programs (particularly SketchUp Pro, which I explored during my Product Design course in MYP) provided a foundational understanding, there were moments of intense focus required. However, with unwavering dedication and the invaluable guidance of the Aangan team, I successfully navigated the complexities of these programs (demonstrating Learning Objective 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills).

This internship transcended the mere acquisition of skills. It served as a valuable trial run for my aspired career path in architecture. Juggling the internship alongside an online course presented a significant challenge in time management. However, this experience fostered the development of robust scheduling skills, allowing me to effectively prioritize tasks and navigate demanding deadlines.
