This was an event wherein we planned a farewell for the graduating batch of 2024. In this event, I was a part of the dance team, while also helping the decor,  and I, along with my peers, worked collaboratively in order to throw our seniors their farewell.

LO1: Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth

I always liked dancing and had passion for it, however, I lacked experience in organizing large-scale events. I took this opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and develop skills in event planning. Being part of the dance team required me to be creative, organized, and collaborative. I learned to manage my time effectively, balancing rehearsals with the academic workload. I also realized that I needed to work on my leadership skills, especially when coordinating with other dancers and ensuring that everyone was on the same page.

LO2: Demonstrate That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills 

Planning a farewell was no easy task. We faced several challenges, including tight deadlines, limited resources, and the pressure to meet high expectations. One of the biggest challenges was choreographing a dance routine that was engaging and meaningful while accommodating dancers with varying levels of experience. To overcome this, I spent extra hours practicing and helping others who needed additional support. This experience taught me the importance of patience, persistence, and adaptability. I also developed new skills in choreography and stage management, which will be invaluable in future endeavors.

LO4: Show Commitment and Perseverance in CAS Experiences

The process of planning the farewell demanded a high level of commitment and perseverance. There were moments when things didn’t go as planned—some dances had to be changed, the venue arrangements were delayed, there were some technical difficulties, etc.. However, we didn’t give up. We held extra rehearsals, adjusted our plans, and kept pushing forward despite the setbacks. This experience reinforced the importance of resilience and the ability to remain focused on the end goal, even when faced with obstacles.

LO5:  Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

The success of the farewell hinged on our ability to work together as a team. Being part of the dance team required close collaboration, not only among the dancers but also with the event organizers, sound technicians, and stage crew. Effective communication was key—we had to ensure that everyone was aligned on the timing, cues, and choreography. Through this experience, I learned how to listen to others’ ideas, give constructive feedback, and compromise when necessary.

Conclusion:

Being a part of this farewell taught me a lot of lessons such as teamwork, leadership and communication. It was an opportunity to step up, take on new challenges, and grow both personally and collaboratively. As I reflect on this experience, I am proud of what we accomplished and grateful for the skills and memories that will stay with me long after the event.
