The Nature Club animal shelter was close to Abhva that I visited. This group was started by them to rescue and care for wounded animals, including reptiles, dogs, cats, and birds. Our job was to assist the Nature Clubs personnel with routine tasks like slicing vegetables, feeding the animals, changing their food and water, and maintaining their cages.

LO 5 – Demonstrate skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

When we were initially given the chore of slicing vegetables and replacing the food and water in the cages of animals and birds, it looked like a laborious and tedious work. Luckily, though, we were mistaken. Because the activities were evenly distributed, we were able to engage with the animals and birds by walking straight into their cages and feeding them, which made the tasks enjoyable. It was also not time-consuming because everyone was so immersed in their work that we were unaware when the allotted time had passed.

LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Life on Land was the global issue I addressed here. The animals at Nature Club have very little access to food and no place to reside. Injuries to several animals necessitated their direct feeding. This is the reason we started our initiative to assist those creatures by actively cleaning the bird cages and replacing the food and water bowls. I also use social media and conversation to raise awareness of the need of protecting animals and birds among my friends, as it is a major worldwide issue.

LO7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

My fellow classmates and I had to exercise caution during the process since we were dealing with a delicate subject. Our guide was there to show us how to change the food and water that the animals and birds in the cage receive. Since food and water are essential to their life, we had to comprehend and carry out the task properly. In addition, exact vegetable cutting was required since the animals were fed veggies with unclean roots that needed to be removed to prevent any food poisoning to the animals.

 Conclusion

Helping animals and birds with this campaign forced me to deal with issues of global importance and make moral decisions in order to ensure that our aim was achieved. It also helped me realise that, when done together, doing such jobs may be efficient and enjoyable.
