Nightout is an annual one-day event where students stay overnight in the school and enjoy with their friends and teachers. There are various actvities which are played which is followed by DJ , Dinner and Night Tournament. It is almost a 15 hour event which requires an organizing committee. Personally , I am really excited for Nightouts as you can stay overnight with your friends while talking with them , playing with them and eating with them. So this year , I had decided to organize it by myself with the help of few peers. 

Learner Profiles which I had used:

I applied the Learner Profiles of Communicators , Reflective , and Balanced. Communicators was used to communicate with my group members as well as the experts of different areas. Like talking with the head of the kitchen for dinner , events team for all details , transport head for bus routes , Senior School Coordinators for briefing them about the event , etc. We had also made a Chatspace between the organizers and our mentor where we talked about upcoming meetings , issues and questions which we have and various ideas or solutions which we had. I used Reflective skills during 2 occasions. Firstly , we had a mock relay race where we checked the resources and the area which was available. After the mock test , we knew the problems and we then changed our plans accordingly. I was also managing the band performances with my peer , so I was giving continuous feedback to the performers while also managing the time and whether or not the songs were appropriate or not. Lastly , I applied Balanced , where I had managed various tasks and had learnt various thinks while also developing areas for growth as mentioned in the below Learning Outcome. I also had to balance the fun which I had as the students and the management role which I had as a manager.

Learning Outcome 1 – Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth : 

I feel really enjoyed and enthusiastic when I do a team-work. I feel that is my strength where I use my collaboration skills and logistics skills to help the team. Although we performed the tasks as a team with a mentor being allotted to help us but we tried to divide tasks based on each person’s strengths while trying to give equal tasks and opportunities.  I helped my peers in managing the band performances and DJ , making games for relay race and creating Night-out duties for teachers while also helping in other works. I had chosen tasks based on my strengths while I also learned 

Learning Outcome 3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience :

We as a group were the main leaders of the Night Out committee and handled the whole Night Out for the same year. We even needed help from others as we selected 8 people for Relay Race activities where they would monitor the progress of each class while there were many other people selected for Band Performance who were good in Music. The whole school Nightout was organized by us , which meant that we would receive criticism while also hoping for positive feedback. We could not afford any mistakes as we would receive backlash from our own classmates as the event only comes once in the year and for which the students are really excited. We then needed to also coordinate with the staff members of the school regarding transport , food and resources for the event , which meant we needed to match their timings while staying formal. Lastly , we had several meetings during early school hours as well as during our free slots and pull-outs from subject slots. In these meetings , we would rather do the work for the Night Out or would hold meetings with coordinators and teachers. Personally , I had maintained a sheet where I would put the Minutes of Meeting (MOM) and would also list the tasks which were needed to be completed before the next meetings.

Learning Outcome 5 –  Demonstrate Skills and Benefits of Working Collaboratively : 

This work wouldn’t be possible without my groupmates. With around 5 students and a mentor we all planned to do a Night Out for 2 Grades. As a group , we divided our tasks upon which person will do what tasks. Each person had an important role in the event as they handled each agenda while looking upon the resources and the people around. Each person had to be ready for the problems which might arise , during the event as there were 200-300 students plus teachers and support staff for the event. As a group we had many tasks beforehand like organizing the whole event , managing resources , setting up the timings , rolling out forms for the Night Tournament and presenting the whole idea to the School Leaders. Then on the main day our work had increased as we had to make this event successful . On the main day we had several tasks like setting up the resources , informing the schedule to the students , briefing the teachers and volunteers , observing and leading the relay race and lastly enjoying the Nighout while organizing it.
