One of my most meaningful CAS experiences this year was being selected as goalkeeper for my school’s football team competing in Khel Mahakumbh, an annual inter-school sports tournament. The experience allowed me to evaluate myself against critical learning outcomes.

Playing at such a significant event instantly connected me to LO6, fostering understanding of challenges faced globally in access to sport. Many teams had overcome disadvantages to participate, showing strength of the human spirit that unites us beyond borders. Competing alongside them reinforced our shared passion.

Reaching the semi-finals demanded resilience, but our third place victory proved development of skills and teamwork. Reviewing matches critically under LO1 surfaced room to strategize positional awareness and cross-communication, key to success. Though not perfect, facing strengths and weaknesses openly and with compassion from teammates grew my character.

Every match brought split-second decisions potentially impacting others, connecting to LO7. Under pressure, I found inner calm through focusing on fair play and opponents’ wellbeing over winning. Though painful to lose in later rounds, maintaining respect for all teams’ efforts reinforced ethical conduct as central to the spirit of the game andCAS mission.

Overall, while football is just a game, this experience awakened me to global citizenship and strengthened my moral compass through challenging situations. Facing adversity with an open mind and compassion for others, even in defeat, will no doubt aid my development far beyond these fields. I am grateful to have represented my school with pride at such a meaningful event.
