Sports tournament

In this CAS experience, I attended many sports tournaments at different levels ranging from school regionals to international level. A major tournament we played was at an international level held in Malaysia, our team had been preparing for this tournament for 3-4 months which included full-day camps, early in and morning practice on the weekends. We also did workouts and throwing sets apart from practice daily to improve our fitness. In the tournament, we tried to perform our best and applied every skill we had learned over the past few months. The Malaysia tournament gave us experience and knowledge about the ultimate sport internationally.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

While practicing for the tournament, I had to identify my strengths and weaknesses to improve on them. When I began practicing, I had little to no understanding of the game strategies but over the months as I practiced more and gained more knowledge I learned the tactics of the game. I also identify my strengths to use them more during the game. Identifying my strengths is vital for the development of the team and myself.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.

I have also taken many challenges while preparing for the tournament for example, I tried playing positions that previously I might not be comfortable playing or was very bad at. But to develop new skills and understand the position well, I played those positions to perform better in the future. When playing the specific I might be scared and not confident while playing but those challenges helped me develop new skills.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment to CAS experience

In this CAS experience, I showed commitment and commitment as I continually worked every day on my throwing skills and other major skills for the tournament. Also to improve my overall fitness I worked out 6 days/a week, which needed commitment and motivation because there were times when I felt like not going to practice or working out but with perseverance and commitment I was able to overcome these challenges hence I showed perseverance and commitment throughout the CAS experience.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Ultimate Frisbee is a team, hence I had to work collaboratively to prepare ourselves for the tournaments, we all had to communicate with each other if we were free so we could have a practice day and other small things that required collaboration and communication. Without collaboration we would not have been able to improve our skills as much as we did. Working collaboratively also meant doing throwing sets and workouts together which which benefited the team members by staying motivated and improving their skills and fitness.
