Global Odyssey is a signature DP event and is hosted by the economics and business management students. It is a essentially a business fair centered around “fun, food and fashion”, giving us the opportunity to integrate economics and business management concepts to real life. Me and my team of five members had put up a stall for photobooth, wherein we created a backdrop against which people could get pictures and choose between two pint sizes – polaroids and A9 print size. Our goal was to ensure that people take back wonderful memories from the event in form of pictures.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Working collaboratively with my friends made this whole process a lot easier and fun as we were able to balance out our strengths and weakness and get the work done. We had two good photographers in the team and hence they were responsible for clicking the pictures, whereas I was good at managing the logistics of the stall and keeping a track of the money earned and therefore along with the help of one of the other team mate, we took charge of that.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Making the photo-booth was a tiresome task, due to the event being outdoors we faced some difficulty in placing our decor and ensuring that it does not move around. This event made me realise the importance of commitment, after an hour I had started feeling tried however I had to stay focused and committed to managing my stall. During rush hours, everything got really hectic and what helped us during this time was the role allocation we had internally done in the team. This allocation ensured that even with too much crowd, we were able to delegate it and get work done.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.
We were really confused with what we wanted to do for our photobooth, we had a lot of ideas however when we got down to implementing them we realised that they weren’t practical. Bounded by time, we were a little nervous as to if we would be able to get our photobooth ready in time or not. During this time is when we developed our problem solving skills, we listed down the creative materials that we already had at hand and how through using those resources we can create a photo booth.

Our photo booth stall and the event as a whole was a huge success, our stall was one of the very few stalls to have earned great profit – covering all our costs spend on materials and other necessary equipments. We were planning this event since around one month and therefore the success of our stall made all of us really proud and satisfied.
