Farewell ‘2024

Farewell is the most nostalgic event of the year. It is bidding goodbye to the graduating class, in our case, it was the graduating batch of 2024. It is the only event with so many chaotic emotions. For every junior grade, it means a lot to be able to organize a farewell for their senior grade, it was the same feeling for our grade as well. It is truly an honour to get a chance to make this event special for the class of 2024 and I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I was a part of the decorations, host, and activities team all at once. We started our preparations a month before the event.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills:

The initial date for farewell was 9th February 2023, but because the school couldn’t provide us with the resources, we couldn’t proceed further. Thus, we had to postpone the date to 17th February. It was difficult for me to navigate things on such short notice, considering I was part of the hosting, decor, and activities/games team. I have developed a lot of skills while being a part of the organizing committee, what helped the most in the decor committee was that I had opted for product design in MYP so my skills to make decor from the start was helpful to the entire team. This CAS experience was on going for a very long period of time, we were working on this project for over a month and we had a lot of things to do all at once. On top of that, the school was going through under construction so we had to shift from our usual venue to a new venue, and move everywhere in the school because everything was in different places, as I was in the decor, host and activities/games team I had to attend all the meetings organized and come early-in for every single day for almost a month. The decor team faced a lot of challenges till the day even started. We got our resources very late, and it was not what we expected and we had a lot of things to do especially when a lot of us had other event to organize and also keep our academics a priority it was difficult but we all pulled through.

LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience:
I showed perseverance and commitment in this CAS experience as I would keep farewell my priority and come early-in to school everyday so that we all can work on the decorations, we would even have pull outs so we had miss our subject slots to go work on the decorations for the entire day. It was not easy to work on the decorations, sometimes we even had to come to school early in the morning when it was a holiday for other students. Only the students in the farewell committee would come to school and complete their work for the day. I have been dedicated to this CAS experience because I wanted to make this farwell the most memorable event for their life for the batch of 2024. I have always been connected to a lot of them through frisbee and they were leaving for universities, so I wanted them to remember this day when they grow up. We have made a very strong bond over the years and it was very special to me.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively:

All the resources were delayed till last minute of the event, and when we received the resources a lot of them were not what we expected, All of us in the decor team were in a hurry because we were running out of time, so we divided work and helped each other whenever needed so that we could ensure that the execution was smooth and done precisely.
