PS – Frisbee

I have always enjoyed playing frisbee, so I took it as my PS. I have been playing frisbee for more than four years. I have had my fair share of ups and downs in my journey of frisbee. It will always be fun to play frisbee, especially those people who I have created such a strong bond with. It is a way to relieve stress and just feel relaxed. My team ‘Sacred Discs’ is the most important to me because when ever I have played any tournaments or any such thing it has always been with them.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth:

Skill and technique are the most important for a player to improve their play in the game; without it, there is no chance to win. I have noticed that my forehand is not as good as my backhand, and to develop these skills, I need to practice more. PS slots allow me to work on my weaknesses while strengthening the skills that I am amazing at.Additionally, I recognise that while my throws are a crucial aspect of my game, my defensive positioning and field awareness also need improvement. By focusing on these areas, I can become a more versatile player, contributing more effectively to my team’s success. Through regular feedback from my coaches and teammates, I have been able to identify moments where I could have adjusted my positioning or reacted faster to turnovers.Balancing my strengths with areas of growth not only makes me a better player but also enhances my understanding of the game. For instance, my ability to read plays and anticipate opponent movements is one of my strengths, and combining that with improved technical skills will make me a more well-rounded athlete. By continuously reflecting on my performance and committing to growth, I aim to elevate both my individual game and my contributions to Sacred Disc.

LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience:

Ultimate Frisbee tournaments demand not just skill and teamwork but also perseverance and commitment, both of which I have demonstrated throughout my journey with Sacred Disc. Preparing for tournaments requires rigorous training sessions, often pushing my physical and mental limits. Attending early morning practices, staying late to work on specific skills, and committing to personal fitness outside of scheduled sessions all reflect my dedication to the sport. Tournaments themselves are intense, spanning multiple days with back-to-back games that test endurance, focus, and resilience. There have been moments during games when fatigue sets in, but my commitment to the team drives me to push through and give my best effort on every point. Whether it’s running hard to make a critical cut, laying out for a defensive block, or staying mentally sharp during tight matches, I’ve learned to persevere even under challenging circumstances. One of the most memorable examples of this was during our trip to Malaysia, where we faced teams with higher skill levels and greater experience. Despite the odds, we remained determined and played with heart, learning from each game and growing as a team. The experience taught me the value of staying committed to a shared goal, regardless of the obstacles.Through these tournaments, I’ve come to appreciate that perseverance isn’t just about physical effort; it’s about showing up consistently, maintaining a positive attitude, and being reliable for my team. This commitment has not only helped me grow as a player but has also strengthened my bond with my teammates, making every game and every challenge worthwhile.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively:

Ultimate Frisbee is inherently a team sport, and my experience with Sacred Disc has taught me the immense value of working collaboratively. On the field, every point scored or defended is a product of teamwork, trust, and effective communication. No single player can succeed without the support of their teammates, and this understanding has shaped how I approach the game. In Sacred Disc, we prioritize helping each other improve. Whether it’s offering tips on throws, running drills together, or providing constructive feedback after games, collaboration is at the heart of our training. I’ve often worked with teammates who struggle with specific skills, such as marking or cutting, sharing techniques that have worked for me while also learning from their unique perspectives. This mutual support fosters an environment where everyone can grow. Off the field, our bond is just as important. Team dinners, spontaneous hangouts, and inside jokes have created a sense of family within Sacred Disc. These moments strengthen our connection, which translates to better coordination and trust during games. For instance, knowing my teammates’ playing styles and preferences helps me anticipate their movements, leading to smoother passes and more effective plays. One memorable example of our teamwork was during a close game in a tournament. Despite being under pressure, we stayed calm and relied on each other’s strengths. We encouraged one another after every point, kept our spirits high, and adjusted our strategies together. This collective effort led to a well-deserved victory and reinforced the importance of collaboration. Being part of Sacred Disc has shown me that teamwork is not just about winning games; it’s about building relationships, sharing knowledge, and supporting one another through challenges. These skills extend beyond Frisbee and have enriched many other aspects of my life.
