As my time in high school comes to a close, the G12 Farewell event was a bittersweet moment filled with emotions, nostalgia, and excitement for the future. For this special occasion, I had the opportunity to contribute to the event in two ways: by hosting a series of games and by assisting the decor team in creating a visually stunning atmosphere.
Learning Outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Through my involvement in the G12 Farewell, I gained a deeper understanding of my strengths and areas for growth. As the host of the games, I recognized my natural leadership abilities, my public speaking skills, and my capacity to engage and entertain a crowd. However, I also identified the need to improve my time management and adaptability, as some of the games required quick thinking and the ability to make on-the-spot adjustments. This self-reflection has provided me with valuable insights that I can apply not only to future CAS experiences but also in my upcoming transition to university and beyond.
Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Throughout the planning and execution of the G12 Farewell event, I demonstrated a strong commitment to the task at hand and perseverance in the face of challenges. From coordinating with the organizing committee to ensure the smooth running of the games, to working tirelessly with the decor team to transform the venue, I remained dedicated to making this event a memorable experience for my peers. Even when faced with unexpected obstacles, such as last-minute changes or technical difficulties, I persevered, drawing upon my problem-solving skills and collaborative nature to find solutions. This unwavering commitment has not only contributed to the overall success of the event but has also reinforced my ability to handle adversity and work diligently towards achieving my goals.
Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Participating in the G12 Farewell event presented me with several new challenges that allowed me to develop additional skills. As a host, I had to step out of my comfort zone and engage in public speaking, which required me to enhance my confidence and communication abilities. Working with the decor team also challenged me to tap into my creativity and design skills, as we collaborated to transform the venue into a visually stunning celebration of our high school journey. These unfamiliar experiences have not only expanded my skill set but have also instilled in me a greater sense of adaptability and the willingness to embrace new opportunities for growth.
The G12 Farewell event has been a defining moment in my CAS experience, serving as a culmination of the personal and academic growth I have undergone throughout my high school years. By taking on diverse roles and responsibilities, I have had the chance to showcase my strengths, address my areas for improvement, and develop new skills that will undoubtedly serve me well in the future. As I bid farewell to this chapter of my life, I am filled with a sense of pride, gratitude, and excitement for the next adventure that awaits me. The lessons I have learned and the memories I have created through this event will continue to inspire and guide me as I embark on the next phase of my journey.
