Book Club- Creativity

I participated in the Book Club for one year, dedicating my time to exploring literature and discussing different genres with fellow members. This experience allowed me to deepen my appreciation for literature, while also broadening my understanding of various perspectives and writing styles. Reflecting on the time I spent in the club, I realized how much it has nurtured my love for reading, challenged my thinking, and provided a platform for meaningful discussions. It was an enriching experience that helped me grow both intellectually and personally.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Through my participation in the Book Club, I discovered my strength in critical thinking and articulating my thoughts during discussions. I often led conversations, sharing insights about the themes, characters, and narratives we explored. However, I recognized that I could improve my active listening skills, as there were times when I could have focused more on others’ perspectives rather than just presenting my own views. This experience pushed me to develop a better balance between expressing my thoughts and learning from others.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Engaging with complex literary works and discussing various genres presented a challenge, as some books were outside my usual reading preferences. This required me to step out of my comfort zone, embrace new literary styles, and adapt to different ways of interpreting stories. In the process, I developed new skills in literary analysis and broadened my understanding of different genres, themes, and writing techniques, enriching my overall reading experience.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Throughout the year, I took an active role in planning and initiating discussions in the Book Club. I contributed to selecting books, proposing discussion topics, and facilitating conversations during meetings. This experience enhanced my organizational skills and taught me the importance of preparing thoughtful discussion points to engage others. My initiative helped maintain the momentum of the club, ensuring that each session was both enjoyable and intellectually stimulating for everyone involved.
