Global Odyssey: What was it? Students in Grade 11 studying business management and economics organized the Global Odyssey fair. The event took place on February 14th, and in keeping with the occasion, our theme was “Cherry Blossom.” With exciting activities, delicious food, and an amazing selection of jewelry, tote bags, and other items, the event truly lived up to its tagline: “Fun, Food & Fashion.” But for me, it was more than simply a fair; it was an opportunity to examine my advantages and disadvantages and gain knowledge of the critical abilities of communication and self-management.

Learning outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

As a member of the décor team, I was responsible for both selling on the day of the event and decorating. Because there was a lot of work to be done, we began the décor about a month before the event. This month, I discovered that putting ideas into practice and coming up with efficient ways to complete laborious tasks are two of my strong points. One of my assignments, for example, was to cut out a lot of cherry blossoms from paper. It took a lot of time when I first learned the procedure, but as I became more proficient, I discovered a faster technique to complete the same task, which allowed me to cut the time in half. Coming to seeing I helped my friends to sell jewellery, claw clips and cute stationary on the day of the event.

Learning outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

I struggled with time management during the event décor preparation phase because I had to balance my academic responsibilities with this event and other activities going on at the same time. I had improved my time and stress management abilities during this procedure. Given my lack of event management experience, I had a lot of difficulties because, in addition to decorating for the event, we also had to help our other batchmates run their stalls. Overall, even though I thoroughly loved the event, I felt rather exhausted.

Learning outcme 7 : Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Since we were working as a team to prepare the décor and everyone of us had unique and imaginative ideas for the decor, the decor head and the instructor in charge made sure that everyone’s opinions were heard, taken into account, and that no biases existed during the planning and creation of the decor. This made sure that everyone on the decor team was treated fairly, which improved cooperation, efficiency, and teamwork.
