Uniting Through Sports: A Volleyball Tournament for Our School Heroes

As part of our CAS project, we organized a volleyball tournament for our school’s admin and transport staff to foster teamwork, appreciation, and community engagement. The event was held on our school basketball courts, where we successfully marked the courts and set up a volleyball net, creating an exciting game environment.

The tournament featured four teams—two from the admin staff and two from the transport staff, each consisting of 6-7 players. The matches were filled with enthusiasm, competitive spirit, and teamwork as the participants enjoyed a well-deserved break from their daily routines.

Partnerships to Achieve the Goal

To make this event successful, we collaborated with the school administration, sports department, and student volunteers. The admin staff helped coordinate schedules, while the sports department provided equipment like the volleyball net and ensured proper court markings. Student volunteers assisted in setting up the courts, managing teams, and officiating matches. This teamwork played a key role in making the event smooth and enjoyable.

Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This project aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

• SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Encouraging physical activity and recreation among staff members promoted both physical and mental well-being.

• SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – By organizing this event, we acknowledged the hard work of our school’s non-teaching staff, fostering a more inclusive and respectful workplace environment.

• SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – Providing recreational opportunities for all staff members helped bridge the gap between different roles within the school, fostering a sense of equality and unity.

Through this experience, we applied LO3 (Initiate and Plan a CAS Experience) by organizing every aspect of the event, from setting up the court to coordinating schedules and managing logistics. We also demonstrated LO5 (Working Collaboratively) by effectively communicating and working as a team to ensure smooth execution, while also fostering collaboration among staff members through sports.

Beyond the game, this event was a gesture of appreciation for our hardworking staff, promoting inclusivity, well-being, and teamwork within our school community.
