FS MUN, a platform which gives a thrill, unforgettable experience, and lots to learn.FS MUN is a huge platform where people from our and other schools come together and debate about current issues. For the FS MUN 10.0, I had the opportunity to be a part of organizing committee where we were in charge of organizing and decorating the whole event. Throughout the process of organizing till execution, this was a experience that I will never forget. This helped me improve my collaboration skills and team management skills.  

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Organizing the FSMUN had been on my mind for quite some time. After a being a delegate and experiencing this event, I was amazed to see the organizing team and the smooth running of the event. I had decided that I want to be an organizing member too. So, once the forms rolled out I selected the role of an organizing committee member. I knew my strengths and waned to make them better. I knew my weaknesses and wanted to improve them. I had worked in teams before but never really liked it. I like working independently which is what changed through this experience. I really liked working with a team an got better insights and better at what I was doing. I got to understand everybody’s point of view and skills that is required to work collaboratively. Working in a team was very efficient as we had a lot of tasks to complete and so could divided them and complete on time. My weakness is that I hate working at the last minute and hate when other team members don’t work and then somebody else does their jobs for them. During this experience I kept my calm and did all that I had to also. I was also very helpful to other team members. I understood what it takes to work in a groups. Through this event I overcame my weaknesses. 

LO2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

One of the major challenges that we faces was with the time management. Knowing that how big of a event FS MUN is, everything needs to be perfect but we lacked time. We had to decorate every venue, make posters, print photos and make sure that everything is MUN ready. To overcome this challenge, I and my team had early-in and stay backs so that we could utilize more time to organize the event. We even had pull-out slots where we missed our normal slots to work for the MUN. This helped me develop my time management skills and collaboration skills because we gave our all to make FS MUN 10.0 the best MUN till now and with the development of those skills, we were successfully able to do it.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

I played a major role in the decor team where I gave many ideas which could help us make this FS MUN. I gave ideas about how the posters, logos, and headings can be made better because a good decor and management is something that I think most people will remember and appreciate even after the event is ended. My ideas, planning, and initiative definitely contributed to help my team in initiating and planning the FS MUN 10.0.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Collaboration is something that I am not great at, I like working independently and doing things on my own. For the FS MUN 10.0, I had a team which I had never met before. There were students of different grades who I don’t know were in my team and I was not very much open with them to talk in the start but as we all started to work together, I liked it. I liked how everybody divided their work and helped each other out. I also figured that decoration of a event like this is not possible independently and that’s when I realized the importance and significance of working collaboratively.
