During the month of August I was given opportunity to organize the Math trivia of Grade 10 whose winner was Liberty. Me and my four friends were involved in the organization of the event and we were given 1 slot to execute the event. In the following event we had to plan different rounds which will be played by the 4 houses and then we even had to create questions for the individual rounds which were there.
We had 4 rounds out of which the first round was a warmup whereas the other 3 rounds were elimination rounds where each house which the lowest points got eliminated. One of the biggest challenges which was faced by me during the following event was the time management. I was already occupied with my internship and had lack of sleep but still had to wake late night with my friends so that I can create questions with them and plan the rounds. Creating new and interesting question which can be solved by them easily was another big task and the main reason was that creating new questions requires a lot of creative thinking. We had to stay organized and constantly give updates to our grade 10 teachers about our progress which was another big task because it meant that I had to miss some of my grade 11 slots too.
Overall in the day of the even I was given the main task to move the slides during the event. Though I made some errors in between because of improper communication with my peers but overall the event went good, One problems which was faced was the lack of time because we had only 1 slot in which we had to execute 4 rounds of the event so we had to keep our pace really fast at the same time.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, Developing new skills – In the following even I developed my social skills and my creative thinking skills and the main reason for this is that I had to work together with my friends and that the same time battle with the time management problem which I had, Making new questions requires a really creative mind so this event helped me develop my skills.
LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience – The CAS experience required a lot of planning and organization because we had to plan everything from scratch and we didn’t even have the opportunity to take questions from online website. We properly planned every singe aspect of the event in a google document, Created sheets to track our progress and created a beautiful presentation to show during the event. This experience hence required a lot of planning.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively – I had to work together with my friends in the following event, We had to pick out mistakes in each others plan and then we even had to work upon what is finalized by us and what feedbacks were given by the teacher together. We were connected to each other using discord which we used all night to complete our task hence I developed my social skills in this event.
