I bought an online course worth 16k from a youtube channel named SOIC (School of intrinsic compounding). This is the best investment of money done for myself till now because I learnt a lot of things from the online course which I couldn’t have learnt myself and the person gave really good insights about every single topic which was taken up.

This is an online course was about accounting and analyzing companies in the stock market. He talked about different fundamental aspects which should be looked at the companies before buying them like having healthy cash flow, completion, Moats, Balance sheet, income statement different ratios and many more things. The person even taught about different asset classes like bonds, gold and real estate and this broadened my understanding about finance and stock market. The course also had short quiz after each new topic because of which I was even able to test my understanding of the videos which I just watched. This online course is recorded because of which I personally had to invest my time in watching the video and especially because of the school work it was sometimes really hard to manage a lot of things together so I had to be disciplined and not procrastinate in order to properly stay in track. In his course there were interviews of very big super investors which have invested money worth hundreds and thousands of crores because of which I gained a lot of knowledge about the philosophy of different investors. There were sectoral sessions through which I can increase my understanding of different sectors individually like banking, IT, chemical or pharma sector. I mainly increased my speed during Diwali break for the course and even did it in weekdays if I had nothing much to study.

Lastly, I have been applying the teachings from the course and with the help of my dad have invested in many different stocks in which we have gained quite good amount of profit. The course has helped me decide my career choice and even helped me start much early than many people usually do so this course has been really helpful for me.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and areas of growth – Through the following course I was properly able to focus on development of my own skills because of which during the course I got to know the areas where I should improve in order to broaden my understanding like doing more detailed research of a company and looking for frauds which I didn’t do before but after the following course I understood the areas where I should improve in order to be more effective.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, Developing new skills – Because of the course I got to know a lot of new case studies, I got to learn about different topics like ROIIC which id didn’t know about before and all these things will help me develop my research and critical thinking skills. There were some topics I didn’t have prior knowledge about before but the course helped me in making it more clear like when it came to different ratios like Asset turnover ratio or Du Pont of ROE. This course was also challenging when it comes to the aspect of time management because I had to invest the time taking into consideration my school work as well.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in the CAS experience – When doing the course I had to stay commited because many times there were some topics which I didn’t clearly understand and because the course was a video writing a comment didn’t mean I will get my answer quickly and in those cases I had to use the internet and search for answers, These things needed commitment and discipline. At the same time management was another thing which required perseverance because there were times when I procastinated and watched youtube videos but I had to fight it.
