Climbing – Activity

In the month of December and January, I came to school early and then did rock climbing along on the walls beside itadakimasu. Through this activity I not only challenged my physical abilities but also jumped out of my comfort zone. I personally believe that this activity was great and I gained a lot of experience about the following sport.

This activity was also really good for self evaluation because out of the 4 days of rock climbing I was able to reach the top even once, this showed me the ability of my body and this activity has motivated me to work harder in order to take care of my body. I learnt about grip strength and during warmup I learnt about different excercises which can be done in order to increase the strength of our fingers and body. One challenge which I faced during the following activity was to wake up early everyday and I had to keep track of the days in which I had the session this improved my self management skills too. I even gained a lot of respect for the following sport and this is mainly because of strengths which is needed by people to do the following sport which is unlike any other sport which is offered in the school. The psort is also good at problem solving because in a tough situation it is important to remain calm and use our mind to decide the best step to take in order to reach the top. This sport is solo but because of the amount of peers around the the people who were there to guide me as I climbed it also had a form of collabration involved.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and areas of growth – I was able to self evaluate myself in terms of my physical strengths which was really helpful for me in order to know where am I lacking and how can I improve in the areas. I got feedback from Akhil sir regarding my strength which helped me identify different areas of growth.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, Developing new skills – The sport was completely new to me and I had never done it before, at the same time I had to wake up early just to do it. This helped me jump out of my confort zone which was a challenge and I developed new skills in the area of rock climbing and increasing strength and awareness.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience – Before doing the climbing I was really scared mainly because I had failed to climb to the top multiple times which was a real hit on my self esteem because of this I was demotivated but by showing perseverance and commitment I was able to motivate myself to come to the sessions even though it meant people laughing or being demotivated.
