Anand Utsav

As the name says it. “Anand Utsav” truly the most fun and entertaining event I have participated in. Anand Utsav was something different from all of the CAS experiences because this event was not for us, or serving the poor, instead this event was for the support staff of our school. This event was initiated to thank our support staff for all of their hard work and dedication they show everyday to make our school life easier. We planned games, dance, and skit for them to enjoy with us.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I was a part of the dance team for the anand utsav and dance being one of my strengths and something I enjoy to do, I had lots of fun working in the dance team. Even though I love to dance, I face some struggles in remembering them which now became one of the major development area for my growth. We were given enough time to memorize the dances because of all of the early in and pull out slots we had which even made me improve upon my weakness of memorizing dances.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

We tried our best to make our dance memorable for our support staff. I had a family function a few days before this event for which we learned dance so I helped in choreographing the dance for anand utsav using the dances that I learned earlier from the event. This helped my team learn new dance moves and make our dance better.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Term 2 of our grade 11 is going to end because of which we couldn’t have many pull out sessions to practice the dance and because we all were committed for making this anand utsav successful, we started coming early to school so that we could practice the dance without missing any of our slots. We worked harder, gave more of our time, and did our best to make this event memorable.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Dance is an art form which requires a lot of collaboration especially in group dances because coordination and synchronization is something that matters the most in a group dance. All of our dances for the anand utsav were group dance for which we all had to collaboratively work and help each other improve. Some of my group members who were able to learn the dance quickly helped me and some of the other members who faced difficulties in remembering them. Because we all collaborated and helped each other, we were able to complete our dances on time which gave us more time for rehearsal and made us more confident to perform in front of the huge crowd.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.

This event helped us cater to a global issue that is being faced by many. People usually discriminated in classes and races, but this event helped us bring everyone together and helped us thank the people who work for us and help us in our day to day life. This event helped us engage with them and stop discrimination between people.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

After this event I felt like we do not appreciate our support staff enough. Our support have helped us throughout all these years and school would be impossible without them. After recognising this I decided to appreciate our support staff more often and treat them with respect as our own.
