I am the Vice-President of Polytalks Club in Fountainhead School DP. This club is not only made for you to foster your knowledge on current affairs and stay updated on what all goes on around the world, but also for you to express your voice and choice in creative ways alongside enhancing IB learner profiles and skills. Being the Vice-President of the club, I planned sessions for the members including debate, moot court and documentary reflection to present various and critical political perspectives. I synergized with my Peer, the president of the club to plan these sessions and lead the club.

LO 2- Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
A major challenge was that even during conducting the debates, we realized that there is some kind of lack of political knowledge in the members which might be hindering the debates. Therefore, we allowed them to research online even through the debates to bring up more points. Initially, a few topics felt a little boring in the club so then we resorted to fun activities such as debates on nuclear weapons to make the club sessions interesting. Also during debates, I ensured that as the Vice-president I present opposing opinions to my peers to make the debate fruitful.

LO 3- Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Me and the President of the club planned several sessions based on the availability of time and the number of members in the club. We used to conduct several polls in the club to ensure that the activities conducted were chosen by the members themselves, making it interesting for them. I regularly stayed updated with current events, in order to discuss them in the club, fostering awareness of politics.

LO 5- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
I was working collaboratively with the president to plan the club, the sessions, the joining of the members in order to divide the workload and take advantage of my peer’s excellent management skills. Further, I also collaborated with the social media team of my club to shoot posts for the club to serve as a promotion for the same. As a team, we were able to conduct the club successfully, and also made new members join the club.

Knowledgeable- As I applied the knowledge I gained regarding global politics to conduct sessions and debates in the club.

Communicator- As I not only communicated my knowledge, but also coordinated with the members.
