HDP PS

HDP PS is a school program that provides a variety of sports options, allowing us to choose one based on our preferences to play for the entire year. I chose badminton. Badminton has been a sport I’ve always enjoyed playing, so I wanted to play it for a year and get better at it.

Learning Outcomes :

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Throughout the year, I began to realize my strengths and areas for growth. Since I wasn’t a beginner I already knew a lot about Badminton compared to others, so I was able to play quite well. However, my area for growth was that I wasn’t able to play well in doubles because I’m not good at coordinating and playing with a partner.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Playing badminton for an entire year made me as risk taker. Each game I played, was like a new challenge where I had to use different skills. I learnt new skills under the guidance of my coach which I applied in actual games. This helped me in taking challenges and developing new skills.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

This required alot of perseverance and commitment because I had to attend all the sessions for an entire year. There were also some times I was already tired but despite that I still chose to attend the classes and proactively participated.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Since, Badminton is also played in doubles I had to pair up with other people. This required a lot of effort because we needed coordination and proper communication while playing. Initially, it was quite toilsome but gradually I realized how beneficial it was because the games started getting easier.

Overall, this was a great way to develop new skills. I also learnt how to be a Risk-Taker and take new challenges. This was also beneficial because it made me feel fresh throughout long study days.
