HDP PS; Basketball

I have been playing basketball for a while now and I have enjoyed playing it. Basketball has been a very significant part of my life. I have selected HDP PS as my CAS activity because every PS slot I learn something new, learn new moves to develop my game.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
While practicing we need to analyse our game. Recognise areas of improvement, for example I need to work more on my drive ins, and improve my accuracy. Hence I practice certain drills that help me improve on my weakness. Practicing in PS with my coach’s guidance and with my teammates allows me to develop and be an asset for my team. I also need to identify my strengths, I play shooting guard/point guard for my team, my strengths are shooting and controlling the game, In PS slots I practice more on my strengths as well so that I can perfect that skill.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.

Working on my weaker areas has been a challenge there are certain moves, that can help me beat the defence and score more easily. I particularly find some advanced move challenging, but in PS slots I get the opportunity to work on them. I talk to my coach and he helps me to overcome that challenge, eventually after a lot of practice I get the drill right. It takes a lot of effort and time to work upon that skill and at time even after practicing it a lot I am unable to perform it during my match.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Being a part of a team makes you learn a lot of new things, working collaboratively and understanding your teammates is very essential in basketball. You need to know your teammate’s game, have good coordination with them so that the team can beat the defence and scoring. PS gives me the opportunity to work with my teammate’s and improve coordination so that when play at tournaments other teams would find difficult beating our team.
