Bal mela is an event organized in FS which invites students from various government schools. This event organizes fun activities, arts, and dance for those students to enjoy with us. This year I got the opportunity to be a part of bal mela by running an art stall. In this stall I, with my colleagues, made acrylic tattoos for the students.
LO4- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.
Initially I was very excited to interact with the students from the government schools and make tattoos for them. As students from different government schools came, I got so tired by painting tattoos for hours. Even though this made me very exhausted, I continued to make the tattoos because I was committed to make this day memorable for them after seeing the excitement and happiness on those student’s faces.
LO5-Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
Painting these many tattoos on the students was not an easy task because of which I and my team worked collaboratively. We all took separate corners of our stalls and we divided the students which made our task way easier. Using collaboration, I and my team were able to make those children happy by painting the tattoos they wanted which brought a smile on their faces.
LO6- Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.
This event focused on the SDG 4- Quality education because the students in government schools don’t have access to quality education. Bal mela offered a fun experience as an attempt to better quality education with the assistance of private school which can improve the quality of education for the students working in government schools
