The school staff are the unsung heroes of our operations. They work tirelessly long hours before the first bell rings and late hours after school ends, they do all this with the brightest moods and the widest smiles. Whether it be the transport staff, the kitchen staff or the grade wing didis. They have become integral parts of my life. Anand Utsav was a unique experience where we celebrated their hard work and expressed our gratitude, by a series of entertaining events throughout the day. In the event I took the role of making and performing a play and and dance.

LO3 DEMONSTRATE HOW TO INITIATE AND PLAN A CAS EXPERIENCE

The idea was first initiated with the shared interest of performing at the Anad Utsav amongst a group of friends. Together we brainstormed ideas that went well with the objectives of the event. To showcase our gratitude for the school staff and have an entertaining and comedic performance. We then decided on a drama and the dance, mimicking our daily interactions with the staff with a comedic twist on them.Allocating specific time for scriptwriting and choreography, we rehearsed rigorously to refine our performances and overcome any challenges. Our planning strategy involved synchronizing multiple sets, each responsible for their respective performances. This asynchronous approach required meticulous timing and adherence to a strict timeline. Consequently, we meticulously planned and practiced to ensure timely execution. This experience not only showcased our creativity and teamwork but also highlighted our commitment to delivering a memorable and impactful performance at the event.

LO5 DEMONSTRATE SKILLS AND BENEFITS OF WORKING COLLABORATIVELY

Both the drama and the dance were group performances, upon initially thinking about the script we saw that there were multiple ideas on things we could do. All members had found memorable memories with staff members that they wanted to show through the drama. Upon the first half an hour of meeting it had become extremely overwhelming with the number of script ideas that were shared. We had to work collaboratively to make sure that we chose the script that was the most fitting and resonated the most with the audience.  We practiced and tried out all the ideas and refined our set line by line.

LO7 RECOGNISE AND CONSIDER THE ETHICS OF CHOICES

While making our comedic drama  we had to assess the thin boundary of being humorous or being funny. Our play was about our daily interactions with the staff, our banter, our fights and memorable funny moments. In the first iterations of the play we had a scene where the angry bus conductor got up and slapped the  children. The setting, mood and content all were humorous although we had to recognise that it might not be perceived well. Having such stage ethics to use the platform given to deliver a non offensive message was a vital part of the play.
