Have you ever wondered how economic theories play out in the real world? As a student passionate about business management and economics, this question constantly buzzed in my head. Enter Global Odyssey, a student-led, market-based event that provided the perfect answer.

Global Odyssey is a unique CAS experience that brings together economics and business management students. We create a simulated market, acting as entrepreneurs and consumers, navigating the intricacies of supply and demand. This immersive experience goes beyond textbooks, allowing us to witness firsthand the economic principles we learn in class.

My role as the event coordinator wasn’t just about management. It was a crash course in leadership. Collaborating with my peers, we planned every aspect of the event, from budgeting of decoration. We faced challenges, negotiated solutions, and learned the immense value of teamwork. Witnessing how diverse perspectives can lead to innovative solutions was a valuable lesson.

But the most significant learning came from engaging with issues of global significance. Global Odyssey often incorporates real-world challenges like sustainability or fair trade. By incorporating these themes, we not only understand economic principles better but also develop a deeper understanding of the globalized world and the interconnectedness of our economies.

This experience perfectly resonated with my dream of a business career. Not only did it solidify my interest in economics and management, but it also helped me hone my leadership skills. The collaborative environment fostered critical thinking and problem-solving, essential skills for any future business leader.

For a CAS experience that goes beyond theory, Global Odyssey is opportunity. It’s a chance to learn, lead, and make a real impact, all while having a ton of fun in the process.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

I was the event coordinator of the event so, we had to start early for that me and one other event coordinators started communicating with the teachers and after the finalization of the teams, we had to start from 22th of jan, so from the 22nd till 14th of feb we had to plan all the things, be in communication with all the people.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

as said earlier I had to be in communication with all the people, I had 5 TLs who had to be communicated with for all the time, and all of the TLs had around 10-15 people in their teams. so in order to make sure that all the people were clear, and the event went on smoothly I had to stay constant in communication.

LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
As the event coordinator for Global Odyssey, I had to constantly consider the ethical implications of my decisions and actions. Ensuring fairness and equal opportunities for all team members was essential, especially when assigning responsibilities or addressing conflicts. Additionally, incorporating themes like sustainability and fair trade into the event highlighted the importance of making socially responsible choices in a market-driven environment. These decisions not only enhanced the event’s impact but also reinforced the ethical responsibility of promoting awareness about global issues through our actions.
