Community clean up was organized by the school because community cleanups play an important role in maintaining the health and beauty of our streets, city, and rivers. From park cleanups to beach cleanups and everything in between, these efforts provide a range of benefits to both the environment and local communities. The clean-up drive was conducted in the nearby ponds and beach cleanup. We had to attend 6 sessions of community clean-up. I volunteered as I was curious about how clean-ups are done, it was a new experience.

LO4 (Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences) At first I thought cleaning up would be easy but when we actually did the clean up I got to know it needs a lot of strength and commitment. First 2 drives were to clean ponds, we had to clear the plants named Water Lettuce and the process to clear those plants was very difficult. Half of the team had to go inside the water and by using rope they had to gather the plants near the shore, and the other people in the team had to collect those plants and take them out of the water. I was in the team where we had to pull water lettuce out of the pond, it requires a lot of strength because they are heavy plants with long roots, it was difficult and tiring too. The second 2 drives were cleaning the river shores. We divided ourselves into 2 teams. One team would collect plastic and other teams would collect other waste like wood, bottles, etc. This task was more difficult as we had to cover a large space, it was difficult to collect. Even after the difficulties and made sure to complete the task.

LO5 (Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively) Working collaboratively was very beneficial for us, As we divided ourselves in teams it made it easier for us to collect the waste quicker. Working as a whole team we were able to collect a lot of waste at once and easily clear a big area at once. 

LO6 (Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance) Disposal of waste is important to keep our environment safe and clean and also ourselves. it is important to dispose of waste properly because there are high chances of diseases being spread. The collected waste from shores and ponds was donated to SMC. I ensured to give my best and complete the task.

In conclusion, it is very important to keep our environment clean for ourselves, Cleanliness is important and we should start sustainable practices to reduce environmental issues. The learner profile attained was caring as we cared for the planet and environment, to ensure a better future for the environment and the planet sustainability is important.
