I have always wanted to get more indulged into programming, i started in grade 7 where i learnt basic scratch and animation. Then in grade 8 i learnt HTML and CSS – the very basics. Then in grade 10 for my personal project and passion for STEM, propelled me towards learning C++. Since then I have only came close to learning python by myself but it wasn’t enough due to the lack of time and actual interest to fully engage myself into learning i couldn’t. So i decided to take on a course as a new way to fully track my progress, and learn from an established platform which is reliable and easier to focus on. With this i can manage my own time, organize my tasks and comfortably learn python.

The course was of 100 days, in Udemy. I have completed 30 days and as i have completed 1 month, i have realized how sophisticated courses are which is something that i was lacking when i first started learning python. The key is to be committed and persevere throughout the period of time. For me i was able to do it by being excited or motivated towards solving their tough problems and challenges, which is something i can relate to via math. Also I have managed to understand why I like python as a language, it is very simple and logical just like math.

LO2 – [Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills]

The nature of the course was “learn by doing” approach. Here, I actively wrestled with coding problems, experimenting with different approaches and troubleshooting errors along the way. Each hurdle, each error message, was a stepping stone. It forced me to delve deeper, to consult resources, and to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Also the course didn’t just teach the functions and the actual language of python, but how it is applied, where, also how to use it on various levels of magnitude and difficulty. In the final days of the course, the course provides long-term projects on the highest level of difficulty, the way professionals do. This is my goal, to complete these challenges and get as much learning as possible from it.

LO4 – [Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience]

The key factor of doing this course for me was to be regular and committed, dedicate at least a certain amount of time towards it during any time of the week. Also keeping patience during solving problems, debugging and finding error in the code is also something that I was required to have. I spent hours on tough challenges that professional programmers do at competition level like ‘Reply challenges’ it was a very excruciating process which is where my patience really helped me come out of that. Even after barely managing to complete 30 days, it seems like a lot of work, while managing extracurriculars, academia. I had to effectively manage a consistent amount of time i can dedicate suitable to any time of the week, but on weekends i would usually grind on the course and make a lot of progress.
