Our school trip to Lachakdi village was unlike any other. For seven days, we lived among the villagers, experiencing their way of life firsthand. It was a journey filled with new challenges and eye-opening experiences that taught us so much about rural living. This CAS experience helped me in expanding my horizons by exploring lives of people living the rural areas of the country by taking me out of my comfort zone. This experience not just helped me in connecting with the nature but it also helped me in building relationships with my peers and developing collaboration skills. The 7 day rural immersion trip to Lachakdi helped me a lot in shaping me as a human by exploring different aspects of life experienced through this CAS trip opportunity.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills:

Living in Lachakdi wasn’t easy. We had to get used to basic amenities and tackle tasks we’d never done before. But with each challenge came a chance to learn something new. From working in factories to painting school walls, we embraced every task with determination. These things being compeltely new tasks for me it seemed to be challenging at the first glance, but with the associated learnings and developing perseverance I took up all of them as challenge, intending to develop new skills.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience:

During the experience, we initiated and planned different activities for the village school’s children, where we initiated and planned to make them play different games, like kho-kho, football, volleyball etc and planned to teach them the ultimate frisbee game. We also initiated and planned a short skit for the school children where we presented the differences between the city and the rural life. Initiating and planning these things in the rural immersion was an experience on its own.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience:

Staying committed during our time in Lachakdi was crucial. We faced many obstacles, like discomfort and language barriers, but we didn’t give up. We kept pushing through, determined to make the most of our rural adventure. Despite facing a lot of challenges during the CAS trip I stayed committed and showcased perseverance throughout to everytime learn something new form the hurdles that came into my way.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively:

Working together was key to our success in Lachakdi. Whether it was helping villagers or working with classmates, we supported each other every step of the way. This teamwork not only made us more productive but also helped us forge strong bonds. Additionally, during the 7 days we went with 2 other classes, which helped in building collaboration skills while working and experiencing the rural life together. Collaborating together with my classmates helped in alleviating the challenges, which also helped in building my collaboration skills.

Our week in Lachakdi was a journey of discovery and growth. By immersing ourselves in village life, we gained a deeper understanding of rural communities. Through hard work, teamwork, and a commitment to doing what’s right, we made the most of our experience. As we return home, we carry with us the memories and lessons learned from our time in Lachakdi, knowing that it has enriched our lives in so many ways.
