FSMUN 10.0-Project- Study Guide making and On-day volunteering

During the 10th edition of FSMUN, this time I tried on some new role for myself. Previously I was only in the OC committee for on day volunteering whereas this time my additional role was to make study guide for UNGA. I got an experience of how study guides are made and the whole process of the planning of FSMUN. This included working with different teams. On the last day of preparation, I also helped in last minute decor, cross checking the candidates and arranging the tables, chairs, delegate kits, etc on the venue. My major role was to prepare a study guide for the UNGA committee and follow an order for the given study guide. I was also instructed on what all to include, some sources I can include and how to ut up a study guide ensuring it is of use to everyone. Then was the role to volunteer on both the days of the event. I was assigned the role in the IP committee where I had to ensure that IP delegates are there in all committees, handle the social media and put up regular updates that happen in committees like press conference, debates between countries, moderated and unmoderated caucus, etc. I was also supposed to coordinate with the chairs and ensure the delegates do not face any issue.

This all gave me an experience of organising a new event as whole and understand what challenges could come on my way and how to solve them.

LO1:Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I identified that I love taking up leadership opportunities and organising events as they give me an insight of how events work in real life. I could develop leadership while volunteering for on day event. Then I also realised that I need to develop working collaboratively and FSMUN would give me the chance to.

LO2:Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Some challenges I faced were more on the event day as there was a communication gap between the delegates at some point of time also. Moreover, meeting the deadlines of study guide completion were also a bit of a challenge but at the end I could develop skills like collaboration, communication, creativity and made me develop specific skills like study guide building.

LO3:Initiate and plan a CAS experience

This project involved a lot of self management skills where I had to set deadlines for myself to complete my experience. Moreover, planning of the event was also done like how the on day event would look like and I also discussed my role. I also had to take initiative to complete the study guides by taking help of peers as well.

LO4:Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

As this was a long duration experience which was my CAS Project, it was very important for me to be committed towards the task given to me and ensure I complete it before the deadline no matter what challenge I face so that because of me the event is not hampered. Moreover, despite the challenges like time management I faced, I was continuously working throughout the duration in order to give quality work and on time

LO5:Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

In any event it is really important to work collaboratively and here it benefited the most during the 3 month duration because I had to get approval of study guide and also take help at points I got stuck. This helped me a lot as I could easily communicate and get updates faster. Moreover, while the event also communication became easier when we were working as a group.

Some skills I developed were Creativity, Communication,Time management, Self Management, Inquirer, Collaboration,Problem Solving, etc
