From touching the clouds to cleaning the area of the best view present , the 2 day Trek programme helped me explore the things which I haven’t done in years. We climbed the slippery hills and had a long trek while we also climbed the stairs of a nearby dam , to clean the surroundings. My CAS experience involved going to a place called Igatpuri , in Maharashtra. Our main goal was to go for a trek ( 1 short and 1 long) to the nearby hills while also interacting with the locals and observing the surrounding places. Our hotel was surrounded by hills and greenery, situated far from the city and was near a village.
Learning Outcome 2 – Demonstrate that Challenges have been Undertaken, Developing New Skills in the Process :
Trekking is a thing which I tried for the first time. Climbing the hills of Igatpuri and that too 2 times was a hard challenge . Additionally the rainy season made our climb more difficult as the hills were slippery with the rain pouring from above. As trekking was new for me , I didn’t know which things to bring and which to not and mistakenly had brought the wrong shoes for trekking , which were slippery. At the start it felt fun and enthusiastic but there was some fear. Fear of getting injured or getting sick. Then , during the village visit , I had to converse in Hindi the whole time , due to language barrier. Slowly, I had gained confidence in having conversation with them and had started to have fun. Having a new experience (trekking) and having various challenges have motivated me to have these fun adventures in future.
Learning Outcome 4 – Show Perseverance and Commitment in CAS Experiences :
The trip was almost 3-4 days during the holidays. I was committed enough to spend my holidays on this adventurous trip which was far away from my home. Staying away from home , in the middle of the hills was a fun experience. Trying various activities and services was fun while spending these days with my friends. We climbed the hills , cleaned the dam and even taught the government school students. These experiences needed perseverance and commitment in doing activities which were fun. Additionally , spending 3 days in less quality rooms which were not the same as we live in our home was challenging and different. The overall experience needed time and commitment for me in order to try something unique and challenging.
Learner Profiles Which I Used:
I had applied to the Learner Profile of Risk-taker where I explored Trekking which was completely new to me. I had the choice of enjoying the 3 days at my home or to try a new adventure trip. I took a risk of going on the trip by trying new adventures while facing challenges. By reflecting upon the experience , I am looking forward to more trekking experiences and adventurous trips. I had found another side of me where I tried to challenge myself by trying different things. I am enjoying these adventurous experiences after I went on the trip. Reflective learner profile helped me in understanding the experience and thinking about the activities which I shall do in future
