Food donation was an organization activity that involved going to the nearby rural areas to schools to donate food which could have otherwise been taken there ours.
LO4: Demonstrating Commitment and Perseverance in CAS Activities
As for the Food Donation Initiative, the level of commitment was very high throughout the entire period as well as perseverance. Even when it came to conceptualizing, implementing and even the follow up I had taken my time and ensured the competent implementation of the initiative. This is true because although there are hurdles like liaising with the local food banks, mobilizing volunteers and raising awareness I continued to chase the goal of eradicating food insecurity in our society.
LO5: Demonstrating Collaboration and Teamwork
Members of the team worked together appropriately and each team member had proper responsibilities assigned to him. We also made it possible to distribute tasks, for instance having one individual presenting a certain food item causing delays or hitches in the procedure.
LO6: Engaging with Global Issues
This initiative was a direct response to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal number two which focus on Zero Hunger. Instead of throwing away food which is not taken by school children we took the remaining food to the villagers to show that there is food for everyone thus eradicating hunger.
LO7: Recognizing Ethical Considerations in Actions
The food drive extended my knowledge about food and its importance and the moral implications that come with it. It made me more conscious of the food I eat and decided to make the right choices of how we can help reduce wastage or even make sure that food gets to those who actually require it.
Conclusion:
This undertaking built upon the need to tackle hunger since I learnt a lot of commitments, cooperation and the right thing to do. It was a thought provoking experience that was symbolic of how everyone can make a difference in fighting the global problems.
