Ï€ Day


Pi Day was an exciting opportunity to celebrate math, and I had the privilege of running a Desmos animations and graphing stall. Our goal was to use mathematical equations to create dynamic animations, but it quickly became clear how challenging this could be. We struggled with precision slight errors would throw off entire animations and had to delve deeper into functions we hadn’t explored before.

Additionally, we had to simplify complex animations for younger students, making the concepts accessible while still engaging. This process required perseverance and adaptability, as we constantly adjusted our approach and equations. Ultimately, we created fascinating graphs, from spirals representing pi to trigonometric bouncing shapes. Visitors were excited to see how math could transform into art, and we saw the impact of our efforts firsthand.

This experience helped me identify my strengths in problem-solving and creativity (LO1) while tackling unexpected challenges. It also pushed me to develop new skills in graph manipulation and effective communication (LO2). Our commitment to refining the animations, despite multiple setbacks, showed perseverance and dedication throughout the CAS experience (LO4).
