My school hosted a community service program where kids from underprivileged schools came to Fountainhead School to participate in a variety of activities including dance, arts and crafts, ICT, sports, and science. This continued for about three Saturdays .Community service is one of the most effective ways to make people’s lives happy and develop a strong sense of community. When combined with the expressive and creative areas of art and craft, community service takes on a new significance and offer individuals a unique opportunity to become involved, educate themeselves, and make their community better.

I volunteered for Art and crafts , there were 6 session in each session we had planned different activities, So that kids get new experience in each session. In this I worked with 5 of my schoolmates we were divided with different task each one would get 2-3kids and then we had to teach them different activities palanned for that session and help them where they were struggling. It was a bit challenging to teach them because they were not getting what we are trying to tell them. Overall the event went smoothly as we completed what we aimed for.

LO1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth.

I was able to identify many mistakes that occurred during this event. Although I sometimes lost patience, I was able to actively focus on every kid and was happy with their enthusiasm due to our collaborative work. Despite the fact that Gujarati is my mother tongue, there were times when the idea that I was trying to convey did not come over clearly due to a language barrier.After the event completed I was able to find many areas of weakness which led me to find my own strengths and how can I develop them like being patient ,communicator,balanced and collbrative towards school community 

LO4 : Preservance and commitment in CAS experience.

On weekends, it was somewhat challenging to go to school early for community service. especially on Sundays, when it’s difficult for us students to get up in time to get to school by 8:30. However, the students’ resilience and commitment to learning art inspired me to be on time every three weekends. After attending the first two days, I was able to attend all of the sessions on the weekends because of how satisfied individuals get after learning new things.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

I feel that working in a group can be challenging at times since I don’t always get the behavior or collaboration I expect from the other members of the group. However, I found it easy to work with the  volunteers throughout these three weekends because of their determination to demonstrate them new skills. The only way we could have fulfilled our objectives was by working together as a team. In order to provide each student with equal attention,we were divided into groups.In order to teach each student new techniques precisely, we also divided ourselves. Working together was difficult during the first few days since we had to split up into different groups, which took a long time during the first session. But as the days went by, we were able to work efficiently with one another, which simplified our task.

LO6:Engagement with issues of global significance.

As I interacted with several children, I noticed that many of them were locals despite coming from a variety of backgrounds and having immigrated with their parents. They came from diverse areas, but they mixed well together and shared the same sense of gratitude and respect for everyone they spoke to,In addition to doing crafts and art projects, we actively tried to start up a conversation with them in order to keep them engaged and show them that we loved our conversations. We learned about many aspects of their origins and cultures, which furthered our understanding of one another across cultural boundaries.

To conclude, community service was an enriching event, The event tought us many things that you should be thankful for what we have as well as to share our skills with others in need.At last,the experience was all worth because of the time we spent with them the smiles on their faces after completing the task. There were many childrens who had artistic potential, they were thrilled to lear how talented and accomplished they were.
