Global Odyssey

Global Odyssey, one of the most anticipated events at Fountainhead School, wrapped up with great excitement and meaningful learning experiences. This initiative encourages students to build entrepreneurial skills and gain practical insights into real-world issues. I hosted a gaming stall, offering gaming laptops on rent where customers could enjoy popular titles like Valorant and GTA V.

LO 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Being passionate about gaming, I was excited to manage the stall. I realized that although the stall required minimal investment, monitoring customers and managing gameplay sessions was challenging. Additionally, not having suitable rewards or prizes for winners initially felt like a significant drawback. We overcame this limitation by collaborating with a nearby food stall to offer complimentary snacks as prizes.

LO 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
Managing the gaming stall was a transformative experience that contributed to my personal growth. It tested my problem-solving skills, especially in handling customer flow and coordinating the event smoothly. However, it also revealed areas where I could improve, particularly in time management. These insights have motivated me to develop these skills further and apply them in future events.

LO 5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for teamwork and the impact of effective collaboration. Our team divided responsibilities efficiently, from setting up the gaming equipment to designing posters for the stall. We used spreadsheets to organize tasks and ensure smooth coordination, helping us meet our targets effectively. Collaborating with others also allowed us to come up with creative solutions when challenges arose.

Conclusion
Participating in the Global Odyssey event was an enriching experience that enabled me to explore my strengths, such as problem-solving, while identifying areas for improvement, like time management. Managing customers was challenging, but working alongside peers encouraged me to think creatively and step out of my comfort zone. This collaboration led to innovative solutions, like forming partnerships with other stalls, and helped us engage a wider audience. Overall, this program has accelerated my personal growth, and I am eager to apply the lessons I’ve learned to tackle new challenges in the future.
